Madam Jojo

Jo has studied tap and acrobatic dance since the age of three.  Upon graduating from Sheffield Hallam University (with a BA Hons in Fine Art, Combined and Media Studies), she won a commission to create costumed characters for performances at several northern nightclubs.  This went on to form part of her Prince’s Trust funded business: Agent Incognito.

In around 2000 Jo discovered Lindy Hop and honed her dance-floor skills whilst in South Korea teaching English.  Since this she has performed with Rawhead Dance Theatre and in films and TV such as Picadilly Jim, Vera Drake and Blackpool, taught dance for organizations like Glastonbury Festival and Camden Council, as well as taking up DJing for dancers and club-goers.

In addition to this, Jo has a Masters Degree in Art Theory from Chelsea College of Art and has an extensive CV as a visual artist exhibiting her art works (paintings, photographs, videos and sound pieces) around the world from Tokyo to Peckham! She also lectures in fashion history and theory at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. (2003 – present).
